Study on the sensitivity test of carcinostatic agents by acid phosphatase activity.

چکیده
A new method of tumor sensitivity test by measurement of the activity of acid phosphatase was presented. Treatment of experimental tumor cells with mitomycin C, chromomycin Aa and 5-fiuorouracil showed that deviation index of the specific activity ran well parallel with viability of the cells in vitro. The deviation index of tumor cells was also in agreement with survival times of tumor bearing mice treated with these drugs. Side effects appeared in animals having high values of deviation indices of liver cells. The effectiveness of the drugs was expressed by the values obtained from tumor cells minus those obtained from liver cells. In case of cyclophosphamide, however, it was difficult to judge by this method. In the therapy with mitomycin C, the r esponse was well correlated with the deviation index of tumor cells and the side effect was also correlated with the deviation index of liver cells. This method could predict the effectiveness of carcinostatic agent especially short acting cytocidal drugs.

Backgrounds and Aims: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of potassium, sodium and zinc metal ions on ammonium sulfate fraction of acid phosphatase activity of orange fruit. Materials and Methods: Acid phosphatase was extracted and purified from orange fruit and then various samples as well as a control sample were prepared in vitro. In addition to substrates, ions of potass...
متن کاملInvestigating the Role of Three Species of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi on Growth, Acid Phosphatase Enzyme Activity and Phenolic Compounds in Zinnia Plant under Drought Stress Conditions
This experiment was conducted to study the effects of three identified isolates of Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on growth, acid phosphatase enzyme activity and phenolic compounds (phenol, flavonoid and anthocyanin) of zinnia plants (Zinnia elegans L.var. Magellan Red) under water stress conditions. A factorial (two factors) experiment was planned based on a completely randomized design (C...
متن کاملP-10: Effects of Cadmium on Reproductive Enzymes of Blood and Reproductive Tissues in Adult Male Mice
Background: Heavy metals such as cadmium (Cd2+) are natural components of the Earth's crust which can not be degraded or destroyed. Industrial, mining and agricultural activities, particularly the excessive use of phosphate fertilizers, have led to high levels of cadmium contamination at many locations worldwide. Some toxic effects of cadmium are due to its inhibition of various enzyme sys...

Background and purpose: Vascular calcification is an important factor in pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Studies have shown that alkaline phosphatase increases vascular calcification. Here we investigated the effect of gallic acid on alkaline phosphatase gene expression in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Materials and methods: In this experimental study humans aorta VSMCs were incubated...
متن کاملGrowth inhibition data from a primary screen against ascites tumors.
The primary screen for potential carcinostatic agents currently used in these laboratories employs in vivo tests against four ascites tumors. Among ascites tumors, as among solid tumors, individual tumor types show specific and differing profiles of sensitivity. The "collective" sensitivity of the four ascites tumors used here covers a wide range of known carcinostatic agents, as shown in Table...
